Blogmas day four. What I wore: Christmas party edition
04:55:00My works Christmas party is tomorrow and after last year (a lot of vomit was involved) I’m hoping this years will be slightly smoother. When it comes to social events I’m pretty OTT about planning what I’m doing on the day; from the nail colour I want to the clothes I’m going to wear, I will plan every detail like the perfectionist I am. It doesn't always go to plan, but I try nonetheless and this year is no different!
The necklace isn't actually the one I have and I also couldn't find the shoes I have. Don't shoot me! Lace dress from H&M Necklace from H&M Draped blazer from New Look Essie Rock at the top Barry M Passion fruit Bourjois Rouge Velvet Edition |
I did initially want something with sparkles or some sort of
bright colour in my outfit but the more I thought about it I realised that isn't
me. I am all about the monochrome and so decided to wear my black in style. I
managed to pick up this dress and necklace in H & M and I think it came to
under £10 which was bloody brilliant, I was so happy! The dress is beautifully
fitting and the lace detail and the fact that it is backless just makes me love
it that bit more. I didn't time to find a backless bra, so I’m going to
wear a strapless bra and it looks just as good, so I don’t mind too much. I then spotted this little diamond necklace
and thought it was so simple and pretty and would look great against the lace,
I’m also wearing these gold earrings from forever 21 which are so fab on!
Although the necklace isn’t gold, who really cares about matching metals?! Not
me.
I then decided instead of stressing myself out and finding a
new jacket to wear that I’d just wear my normal black one that I always wear
and my favourite black heels from ASOS (I love them so much when I look at them
I want to cry) and the fact that my WHOLE outfit is black I thought I should
add some colour somewhere, or try to anyway.
I then bought the Barry M shade in passion fruit which is a warm red/orange shade
and looks absolutely beautiful against black as it’s such a burst of colour, After watching a recent video on VivannaDoesMakeup's channel she mentioned the new shade that
Essie had brought out. I don’t usually like glitter polishes, but oh my god is
this one a game changer; it’s got a range of different sized flecks of gold
which shimmer and just look beautiful on top of the red, it makes me feel
glamorous. I also bought Bourjois' Rouge velvet edition which I was
planning on wearing for Friday nights and special occasions, but I absolutely
adore it and can’t stop myself from wearing it constantly now. It’s bold and its
matte, what’s not to love?
So I’m actually really happy with the outfit I've ended up
with and hopefully it’ll all come together.
