Autumn Wishlist

It's slowly becoming colder and colder as the days go on and as much as I don't like to admit it, autumn is basically here now. So I felt it was prime time to do a little wishlist on some pieces I'd like for the colder days ahead!

First off is this beautiful grey jersey top from H&M, it just looks very comfortable and like the type of thing I could just curl up in on the weekends to do shopping and other casual stuff. Paired with some dark blue jeans and some boots its just your typical autumn-y look, I loves it a lot! The next item is of course a tartan scarf, it was on my wishlist last year and its back with a vengeance. I didn't get one last year and I need one in my life this year, I especially love this one because the shades are a lot darker than most tartan I've seen and I really love dark reds and greens as they just shout autumn to me!

I thought I'd include a few make up pieces in this that really stood out to me. First was this cute little blush from topshop, its very warm toned and looks like the type of blush that would add a lot of natural colour to the face without looking too over the top and I always enjoy adding a slight burst of colour into my usual monochrome style. I also added a maroon strappy top to the wishlist, because a girl can never have too many of these babies in her wardrobe. I promise you that! The next make up item I found was this beautiful deep purple nail polish from topshop again, what makes this bad boy even better is that its a matte polish. It won't beat matte black, but I imagine it being VERY close. I tend to wear all black when I go on nights out, so I like to find ways to infuse a bit of colour. This is usually done with lips and nails and although I wouldn't wear a purple lip, I think this nail varnish would look fab. Lastly is this gem of a coat, I'm undecided whether I could pull it off or not but it is just so gorgeous that I would try my hardest to pull it off. I think they just look so classy and effortlessly cool and I'm always very jealous of anyone who can pull them off with ease.

The 'F' word

So it seems that in the past few weeks, feminism has really come into the spotlight in terms of media coverage; Some good and some bad.

Emma Watson recently spoke at the UN women HeForShe campaign launch about feminism and how it’s always had a bad name and that people are made to feel ashamed for being a feminist. She was so passionate and emotive in everything that she said and I really agreed with everything that she spoke about. I think it's been so good for feminists everywhere that someone like Emma Watson has become an ambassador for this, there are a number of celebrities that are open about being feminists and I just find them extremely admirable. She also makes a perfect point that women are not the only ones suffering from gender stereotypes, men are just as much pushed to behave in a certain way.

It is something especially close to my heart when she goes on to speak how men cannot talk freely about their feelings and emotions for fear of looking weak and 'feminine'; I lost a man I loved dearly because he felt that he could not be honest about his problems and had to take the burden on his shoulders alone and this is wrong, no human being should have to feel like that. I completely agree with the fact that being a feminist means that you 'hate men', it is being equal as Emma clearly states. I remember being at school and if you said you were a feminist, you were just a moaning and 'bitchy' woman. I remember whenever feminism was brought up people would sigh or laugh because they believed all feminists were extreme and that they were fighting a war against men; which isn't the case at all. I used to feel ashamed or embarrassed to call myself a feminist, but in recent years it has become apparent that the world needs more people who believe and fight for equality. This is why I admire Emma so much for what she is trying to help achieve and I hope that she does manage to make a change.

Now, onto the bad. As a lot of you will probably be aware YouTuber Sam Pepper has recently been in the news a lot for a new video he put up that encouraged sexual harassment in public.

If you haven’t seen it, what he does is go round pinching young women’s bums and then passes it off as a hilarious ‘prank’. When I first heard about this, I was honestly quite confused purely because
I didn’t think it was possible for anyone to actually be that ignorant and stupid. I then watched the video and read the comments that people were making and then I realised this was actually something
that had been posted on the internet for everyone to see. I was so mortified for these poor girls who had to be subjected to that; they were minding their business and then they suddenly have a stranger groping them completely off guard.

What gave him the right to think he could possibly get away with doing this all for a YouTube video? These poor women then had to pretend that it was moderately okay, when you could clearly see how distressed and uncomfortable they were.

My heart really went out to these women because no one deserves to feel uncomfortable or backed into a corner because of another person. It’s really very sad.

The plus of this though, is that so many other YouTubers and bloggers, celebrities and social media users, EVERYONE called Sam Pepper out on this. They all said how horrible and vile he had been and how far across the line he had gone.

Unfortunately, there have been a small minority of people that have found it funny and said he’s done nothing wrong and told everyone to ‘lighten up’ because it was ‘just a prank’. Seriously, reevaluate your lives if you actually think for a second this is okay in any way,

Because sexual harassment is not a joke, not at all. If you have ever been sexually harassed which a lot of people have sadly experience, then you will know how degrading and awful it makes you feel. I have personally experienced sexual harassment a number of times and no matter the scale it is still upsetting and it is still wrong.

So the fact that there are some people actually standing up for what this boy did, is just unimaginable to me.

What shocked me more, is that not once did he write an apology on any of his social media outlets. He just carried on as if the whole world wasn't hating on him, which just made me think that the guy was more tapped than I initially thought.

He then went on to try and recover it by posting two more videos once the original video was removed (thank god!); the first was of bum pinching again but this time on men, which was equally bad and terrible and then a third video.

In the third video he explained that the videos were actually a ‘social experiment’ and he wanted to see how people reacted and that the people who were in the video were fully aware of the situation.

Now I’m sorry, but that is the biggest pile of rubbish I have ever heard: Sam Pepper has made controversial videos in the past when he has kissed strangers without their consent. Which is just as bad AND he did not apologies.

The only difference this time is that this video has seriously blown up in his face and he knows that it has, because the amount of people who have turned on him has made him realize he has truly messed up this time.

I think a lot of people are now divided on whether he is being sincere and it was actually a social experiment or whether he was just being an absolute idiot. I personally think it’s the second option.

Now though, more and more young girls are coming out and say that they have been sexually harassed and sexually assaulted by Sam Pepper. He is supposed to be a grown man, yet he feels that because he is 'famous' he has a right to grope girls as young as 15? No, it does not work like that. I really hope that he crawls under a rock and never comes back, and I hope these girls manage to recover and not lose their trust in the human race.

Above is a comment that I found very very interesting and true, because although Sam has tried to pass it off as a social experiment he has basically initiated to a small minority that it is okay for women to be treated like this. I personally hope he never gets close enough to another human being ever again to be able to do this.

The best of the Emmy's 2014

Although the Emmy's was already a few weeks ago, I just had to post my favourite outfits from the night as so many of them were absolutely stunning. I just keep looking back through them and thinking how beautiful they all looked, and so without going into too much of a ramble these are some of my best dressed from the Emmy's 2014!

Red alert! Claire Danes sported a stunning lace gown with sheer back at the event

Going solo: Sofia arrived at the Nokia Theatre without her new boyfriend Joe Manganiello

Claire Danes is probably one of my absolute favourites, this dress is just perfect and everything about her is perfect I just think she is absolutely stunning and she looks so wonderful. The bright red of the dress works so well with her deep red lips and I like how low key she's gone with her hair put pinned it out of he way because she has such a beautiful face. Can you tell I'm a fan..? Then Sofia just looks like her normal self, sexy and wonderful as per usual, but would you really expect anything else from her, seriously?

Time to shine: Orange Is The New Black star Taylor Schilling - who has been nominated for lead actress in a comedy series - looked flawless in a flowing cream dress

I'm sorry but for me, Orange is the new black absolutely stole the show for me. Each and every single one of them looked wonderful and I obviously couldn't include them all because this would just go on forever. Taylor's dress reminds me of something that should be in The Great Gatsby or something from that era and it works to well on her and that earring cuff is fierce and I laaaav it. Natasha is another OITNB star who I think looks wonderful and she looks A LOT different to her character on the show, she looks so lady like and I love the deep navy colour of the dress. It's very her.

The dark side: Mad Men star Jessica Pare looked sophisticated in a sleek pencil skirt, Debra Messing wore a gown with cut out details and Natasha Lyonne looked lovely in lace

Turning every head: Laura may not be up for an award at the ceremony, but she made sure she got noticed thanks to her gown

Just look at Natalie Dormer, if she isn't just your image of the perfect star then you are wrong. She rocks the rocker look perfectly and I think if it were anyone else it wouldn't work, but because it's her all the perfect components are there and she looks fabulous. Now, Laura Prepon.. I'm still not fully sure about the dress but I love her so much that I don't care. She is probably one of my biggest girl crushes EVER, I just love her so much she is a god among men. However, her hair and make up are truly what I'd imagine for Laura and she just completely aced it.

Pretty in prom dresses: Dascha Polanco (L) and Natasha Lyonne looked gorgeous in their gowns

Again, another beautiful member of OITNB. Look at how pretty Dascha looks, she just looks pretty when I look at her I just want to say "aww" and hug her because she looks so sweet and lovely. She just looks like a princess really, whether that's the look she was going for or not I have no idea but I absolutely love it! And then Heidi Klum just looks like the queen bee she is, I literally want to bow down to her because she is royalty and the fact she looks so fab in such a simple dress proves that point.

Dream in cream: Lucy Liu wore a Lucy Lui Zac Posen dress and Jimmy Choo clutch while Katherine Heigl sported the same colour in satin

Look at Miss Lucy Lui, this was one of the dresses I wasn't 100% sure on when I first looked at them all. Out of them all I was just a bit indifferent about this particular dress; Lucy's hair and face looked timeless and just so Lucy, but the dress was something that I just didn't know how I felt. The more I look at it though, the more I do like it.

She's a winner in the fashion stakes: Joanne may not have picked up a gong on the night but she still managed to wow on the red carpet

What would Lord Crawley say? Michelle Dockery and Joanne Froggatt both opted for backless dresses at the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Monday night

Now look at these Downton beauties, they are absolutely stunning. I feel like they both went for dresses that they wanted to go for and I think they smashed it. Especially Joanne, I think the pale vanilla colour of the dress looks absolutely flawless with her hair and make up she looks sultry and just like she's genuinely enjoying herself. Then you've got Michelle, who just oozes class and grace as she always does so there isn't much else I can say other!

Dapper: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau , Matt Bomer, Kit Harrington and Liev Schreiber all looked stylish in suits

Kit Harrington, Matt Bomer and Liev Schreiber were my best dressed males of the event and although I don't know about suits because I suck, I think they all look super duper dapper and very handsome.

Coordinating: Adam Levine arrived with new wife Behati Prinsloo who looked stunning in Prada

My best dressed couple 100000% is Adam Levine (a god in a mans body) and his new wire Behati. I want them to have children now, because CAN YOU IMAGINE THEM?! They will make the perfect children, they will actually be chiseled by the gods. Anyway, how cool do they look together? They even match and everything which is just wonderful and super cute. Adam of course had to be Adam and wear some glasses to jazz the whole affair up (you go Adam) ,but Behati keeps the class high for both of them.
